Educational News - Leaving Cert results: help will be just a phonecall away

Date Uploaded: 06/08/2014

When the Leaving Certificate results are released next Wednesday, help will be on hand for any of the 57,000 candidates and their parents or guardians who may have concerns about the next step.

The National Parents' Council-post primary (NPCpp) Exams 2014 Helpline, sponsored by the Irish Independent and Eircom, is a free, phone-in service offering one-to-one advice, information and support.

The service, staffed by members of the Institute of Guidance Counsellors, is the only one of its kind and has proven invaluable in the past, handling thousands of queries each year.

NPCpp President Don Myers said the release of the Leaving Certificate results and the subsequent CAO offers could be a very stressful time and the helpline was a source of accurate and up-to-date information.

The 1800 265 165 Freephone number will operate for three days next week, and a further three days after CAO Round One offers are released.

Don’t forget to buy the Irish Independent next Wednesday, August 13.  It will include a special 20-page Exams 2014 supplement, packed with information and advice to guide school-leavers and parents through the decisions they face following the release of the Leaving Certificate  results.
