Programme Content:
- The first year of the programme is taught on campus at the University of Limerick, with two semesters (Autumn and Spring) in which students complete core modules as well as choosing electives from a broad suite of modules offered by the School of Languages Literature Culture and Communication (LLCC) and the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL).
- In the following three years, the focus is on research activity and will include a summer school in Year 2 and a conference in Year 3.

Entry Requirements:
- Master’s or equivalent at 2.1 honours level*
- A minimum of 3 years’ professional practice or equivalent in a TESOL setting or related interdisciplinary area
- Interview (via Skype if required)
- Applicants for whom English is not a first language: IELTS composite score of 6.5 – 7.0 with no less than 6.0 in any one component (or IELTS equivalent accepted by UL)
- All applicants must submit an Expression of Interest Form to together with a satisfactory provisional research proposal.
*A 2.2 honours Master’s degree in a relevant area may be considered if applicants have extensive relevant experience of more than 4 years. A first class Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area may be considered if applicants have extensive relevant experience of more than 5 years.
