Music by Research MA/ PhD

About this Programme
DkIT’s postgraduate research programmes in Music are designed for graduates who are seeking to critically develop their performance and composition capabilities and/or document and develop their specialised knowledge in specific areas of music in Ireland and in Europe.

This provides the opportunity for established performers and researchers to formalise and focus their existing expertise within a structure, which will place the work in an academic and international context. Regular consultation with and feedback from tutors and mentors, and contact with affiliated professionals in appropriate fields provide the student with a challenging environment within which to critically affirm his/her ability.

A taught Masters programmes in Music Technology is also offered, with another in Irish Traditional Music Studies. These Masters programmes are 15 months in duration, and are designed for maximum compatibility with European and international Masters programmes. They are compatible with the ECTS credit points system in order to facilitate study abroad and to integrate participation by students from other countries.

Application for these programmes is particularly welcomed from non-Irish students for whom the only additional requirement is proficiency in the English language.
